Although we recommend removing the baseboards, we will only remove them if you are interested in having a cleaner and fresher look or if the old flooring was installed under the baseboards.

If you want to keep your baseboards during floors installation you can go for the quarter round or shoe molding installation option.

When your hardwood is installed too dry, it will eventually pick up more moisture from the higher humidity it is surrounded by. When this happens, the board will expand, which will cause cupping.  To avoid this, it is recommended that you place your packaged boards in the room they are to be installed for about 5-7 days. This ensures that they get used to the humidity of the environment and retain at least 2% of the subfloor moisture content. You can also check your manufacturer’s acclamation guideline to be sure.
